Walking food tours

How do I purchase tickets?

To book a walking food tour, email info@istriagourmet.com with your preferred tour, date, and group size, or use the Book Now button on the tour page. We’ll confirm availability and payment details with you.

For Istria Gourmet Week, view departures, pricing, and book securely through WeTravel.

What if the tour I want to go on is not available or is sold out?

If a tour date is not available or is sold out, we’ll do our best to set up a tour to fit your schedule. Please contact us at info@istriagourmet.com and let us know the name of the tour, the preferred date, and the number of people attending.

Where do the tours start and end? Will we be meeting near public parking and public transit?

Each tour meets at a different location. Information about where and when to meet your tour group will be available on your purchased ticket and also emailed to you well in advance of the tour date. If you do not receive an email or have questions about the meeting time or location, please contact us at info@istriagourmet.com.

Can I bring children on the tour?

While children are welcome, we caution that tours can last up to 3 hours and cover more than 2 miles. If your child is under 10 years old and will share the tastings with an adult, they can join the tour at no cost—just let us know when you purchase your tickets or email us before the tour date.

How long are the tours?

Each tour is designed to last around 3 hours.

How many stops are on the tour and what will be served?

We will stop at 3 local eateries. At each stop, we’ll sit and sample two dishes and one wine. This should be enough food for lunch. Locations may change without notice.

If I have dietary restrictions or a food allergy, can I still participate?

In most cases, we can accommodate your dietary restrictions by working with the restaurants to tailor your tastings as long as you inform us at your booking.

How much walking is involved?

We’ll cover about 2 miles at a comfortable pace. We’ll break it up with stops at restaurants every 30 minutes or so, where you’ll get a chance to sit down and relax a bit before continuing the walking tour.

Can I take photos on the tour?

Please do! Tag @IstriaGourmet on social media when you share the pictures and videos.

Will restrooms be available during the tour?

You are welcome to use the facilities at any or all of the restaurants featured on the tour.

Do the tour guides accept tips?

Tipping is always welcome and greatly appreciated, although it isn’t mandatory.

Can I book a private tour?

Yes, we can create custom tours for groups of 8 or more. Email us at info@istriagourmet.com with tour information, dates, and number of people in your group.

Group travel & local expertise

What is a Destination Management Company (DMC)?

A Destination Management Company (DMC) is a local expert that plans and manages every aspect of your trip in a specific destination. As an Istria DMC, we organize accommodations, transportation, restaurants, meeting venues, activities, team building, excursions, and on-site support, ensuring your group enjoys a seamless and memorable experience.

Why should I use a local Istria DMC instead of planning the trip myself?

A local Istria DMC saves you time, reduces costs, and gives you access to trusted hotels, restaurants, venues, and unique experiences that are difficult to find on your own. With over 10 years of experience and more than 100 successful group events, we know how to create unforgettable trips while handling every logistical detail.

What types of groups do you organize trips for?

We organize company retreats, team offsites, incentive trips, executive meetings, conferences, family reunions, friend getaways, sports teams, student groups, and special interest travel. Whether your group has 10 or 300 guests, we create customized itineraries based on your goals and budget.

What services does your Istria DMC provide?

Our destination management services include accommodation booking, venue selection, airport transfers, private transportation, restaurant reservations, meeting planning, team-building activities, food and wine experiences, guided tours, event coordination, and complete itinerary planning.

Why is Istria a great destination for company retreats?

Istria combines beautiful coastal towns, excellent hotels, award-winning restaurants, world-class wineries, outdoor activities, and short travel distances. Teams can hold productive meetings during the day and enjoy wine tastings, truffle hunting, sailing, cycling, or beachside dinners afterward.

How far in advance should we plan a group trip to Istria?

For the best venue availability and pricing, we recommend planning your group trip 2–6 months in advance. However, we regularly organize last-minute retreats and events when availability allows.

Can you customize every itinerary?

Absolutely. Every group has different goals, budgets, and interests. We build each itinerary from scratch, recommending the best accommodations, restaurants, activities, meeting spaces, and experiences based on your group’s needs.

Do you only organize food tours?

No. While food and wine are an important part of the Istrian experience, we organize complete group trips including accommodations, transportation, meetings, team building, excursions, sailing, adventure activities, wellness experiences, cultural tours, and more.

Can you organize meetings and conferences?

Yes. We help companies find the ideal meeting venues, conference hotels, executive boardrooms, and event spaces throughout Istria. We also coordinate catering, audiovisual equipment, transportation, accommodation, and group activities.

What makes your Istria DMC different?

We’re based in Istria, specialize in Istria, and have spent more than a decade building trusted relationships with the region’s best hotels, restaurants, wineries, venues, and activity providers. Instead of offering generic packages, we create personalized experiences backed by local knowledge and hands-on support.

Which airports are best for visiting Istria?

Most international visitors arrive through Pula Airport, while Trieste (Italy), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Zagreb, Venice, and Rijeka are also popular options. We help groups choose the most convenient airport and organize all airport transfers.

Is Istria good for incentive travel?

Yes. Istria is one of Europe’s best-kept secrets for incentive travel. It offers luxury hotels, Michelin-recognized restaurants, award-winning wineries, beautiful coastal towns, private boat excursions, truffle experiences, olive oil tastings, and authentic cultural activities that reward and inspire teams.

Do you work with international companies?

Yes. We regularly work with companies, organizations, and private groups from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, and across Europe, providing English-speaking planning and local support throughout the trip.
