November is the month of traditional blessing of the wine on Feast Day of St. Martin (Martinje in Croatian) who is considered the patron saint of wine growers. In celebration of Martinje, wine festivals are held in wine cellars throughout Istria, with plenty of tasting session for wine lovers. Wine tasting events are accompanied by other gourmet events, including truffles and olive oil. November is also the month of Open Days of Agritourisms in Istria during which you can visit rural households and their farms, and taste the delicious Istrian gastronomy as a trademark of rural areas.
